Accommodation

Cracow offers a wide variety of accommodation, ranging from pensions and student hostels to four-star hotels. Larger, formerly state-run, hotels are located a little further away, but have a good range of facilities and often the host for conferences. The number of stars a hotel has is not always an accurate guide to the quality of accommodation. Rooms can be difficult to come by in the summer months; advance booking is advised.

There is a service charge of 10-15% on top of the 21% VAT usually already included in the prices. The rates specified are in US Dollars due to fluctuation of the Zloty.

The Polish Tourist Hotels Association (ZPHT) is the main body representing the hotel industry in Poland (tel: (022) 622 6992; fax: (022) 622 6991). Hotels and private rooms (cost: Z25-35) can be booked at the Tourist Information Centre at ulica Pawia 8 (tel: (012) 422 6091).
